THE PROBLEM

Keeping the attention of employees when covering a long topic can be tricky. The history of third party reporting was a six minute script so EVA BC needed a way to captivate.

THE SOLUTION

Find a style of illustration and animation that fits EVA BC’s brand and creating engaging movement that interprets the script so the employees retain the information.

Results

EVA BC was happy with the animation and, while I haven’t heard if it captivated their trainees yet, I’m confident it will help them digest the information more easily than a traditional lecture.

Learning Outcomes

It’s difficult to think of ways to keep people paying attention to an over five minute video. The content on the screen had to match the audio in a way that assisted in the understanding of the message which was easy in some section but very tricky in others. It was approval by committee so the feedback process was long and, while I attempted to manage expectations on delivery times and content, there were a few bumps in the road. I think in the future I would pad expectations a bit more thoroughly and perhaps present the storyboards as opposed to send them over for cold review.
